In an effort to make the unparalleled comfort and structural strength of my handmade stools a little more contemporary, I have developed this split seat stool. The dynamic grain pattern reflects the highly sculpted nature of the seat, which contrasts nicely with the black legs and undercarriage, while the line play between the seat gap and central stretcher add visual appeal.
As with all my stools, wedged tapered mortises join the legs to the seat to ensure that the joinery never loosens. The two haves are joined by solid steel rods. As demonstrated by the all-black stool, these can be made in a variety of woods and finishes to match your personal décor.
