This Windsor perch stool has a wormy maple seat and ebonized red oak legs. I love the contrast and dramatic grain.
The Windsor perch stool was developed by a team of contemporary chair makers to address the posture problems associated with traditional chairs. Instead of placing the sitter’s thighs effectively parallel with the floor, this chair is canted in such a way as to replicate the posture of a person sitting in a horse saddle. This places the spine in a more natural position and reduces back strain. It also makes it much easier to get out of the chair or to reach down and put on one’s shoes. With a relatively small footprint (about 15 1/2″ wide, 14 1/2″ deep), it is ideal for entrance ways. For use as a desk chair, it is best that the stool height be made to measure, to match the individual’s leg proportions. This particular stool is 22 1/2″high and is being donated to the 2016 Meaford Hall and Culture Foundation Silent Charity Auction.
