Description:
Benches are perfect for entrance ways and covered verandahs, and can be used as additional seating at the dining table when extended for guests, rather than buying additional chairs. This bench is based on the sack back chair, but has a shield seat instead of an oval seat, and a high back.
History:
Windsor benches, or settees, originated in Philadelphia about 1754, although styles of settees vary as much as the chairs they are modeled after. They can range from 4 to 8 feet long.
