Incorporating the classic Windsor “tractor” seat, with its unparalleled comfort, I have further refined the seat’s edges so that is almost appears to be floating over the gently tapered legs. As for all my stools, it is assembled using wedged tapered mortise and tenons. This example is made from black cherry on ebonized red oak legs and stands 24″ high, perfect for general purpose seating or for use at a kitchen counter. Any height and wood combination, however, is possible. Stool seats are typically 12″ below counter height while foot rests are 16 1/2″ below the seat.
I am hoping to locate some apple wood so that I can offer the ultimate Meaford stool, being located in the heart of the Ontario apple growing region.
Other combinations, such as wormy maple or a painted maple version can be created.
