The Meaford Bighead is a solid ash split seat stool is every bit as comfortable and robust as my other stools, but the centre gap adds a quirky and stylish contemporary flare. Named after the Bighead river and valley in the Municipality of Meaford, the two seat halves represent the dominating ridges while the centre spindle below represents the river.
Constructed using wedged tapered tenons and including the highly sculpted seat made famous by traditional hand made Windsor chairs, these stools can be custom finished or made with alternate woods to suit your tastes and décor. Because these stools, like all my other seating, are made by me, by hand, one at a time, there will inevitably be slight variations between stools, making each one unique and proving that they were not mass produced. The black finish is achieved by using a combination of wood dye and wood stain, ensuring that the colour goes deep into the wood for a long lasting finish. Approximately 24″H x 19″W x 17″D, 3.2kg.
Price $605. Add $20 for walnut or sugar maple.
