The top of this cherry writing desk was built using a single 14″ wide 12′ long plank, ensuring consistent grain and texture. The base is maple, using narrow tapered legs to provide a sense of lightness. The top is finished in tung oil while the bottom is milk paint and oil. An academic, the owner wants this piece to develop character over the years so wanted a finish that would age beautifully while being easy to restore if banged, scratched, or dented. 50″L x 26″W x 30H.
