Fireplace mantel

Instead of opting for stone like all their neighbours, this client decided to have a more traditional fireplace mantel but modified to give a cleaner, modern feel.

To do this we used Shaker mouldings and panel profiles. The base mouldings replicated the existing baseboards, wrapping around the front columns. Shiplap was added from the mantel up to the sloped ceiling, using solid wood edging. Small herring bone tiling was used on the face of the fireplace. The fireplace surround was made using solid maple and maple plywood for the panels.
