I have just completed the two pairs of night stands with carved feet. I forgot how long it takes to hand carve legs and aprons. Yikes! They turned out just as I had hoped, finished with a white pickled effect and top coated with an acrylic lacquer. Because acrylic does not yellow like traditional finishes, I first padded the pieces with dewaxed shellac, imparting a warm golden colour and enabling them to darken somewhat over time.
I have no idea what these nightstands weigh, but made of white oak (maple drawer boxes with dovetail joinery), they are not light.
